Replace Any Motor, Even Without a Part Number

Worn nameplate? Discontinued brand? Vintage unit nobody stocks? Read your nameplate, match the brand below, or just send a photo. Our counter has matched motors over 50 years old from a few pictures alone.

Three Ways to Match

However Much You Know, We Can Match It

You don't need the original paperwork or even a readable part number. Start wherever you are.

Read the nameplate

Note the HP, RPM, voltage, frame size, and rotation off the metal plate. Those five specs match most motors. Use the decoder below.

Match the brand

Know the manufacturer but not the part? We cross-reference the major brands, so a cross-fit replacement doesn't have to be the same make.

Send a photo

Nameplate unreadable or gone? Send pictures of the motor and any markings and our staff will identify a match for you.
Nameplate Decoder

What Every Number on Your Motor Means

The metal nameplate is the motor's ID card. Here's what to read off it before you call, and why each one matters for a correct match.

HP

Horsepower

The motor's power output. Going under-spec burns the motor out; over-spec wastes energy and can overload the equipment. Match it exactly.

RPM

Speed (RPM)

Rotations per minute: often 825, 1075, 1725, or 3450. It sets the airflow or flow rate, so a mismatch changes how the equipment performs.

V

Voltage

Common values are 115V, 208-230V, or dual-voltage. The replacement has to match your supply, or it won't run right, or at all.

FR

Frame Size

A standardized number (e.g. 48, 56, 145T) that fixes the mounting dimensions and shaft. Get this right and the new motor bolts in like the old one.

ROT

Rotation

Clockwise, counter-clockwise, or reversible, viewed from the shaft end. The wrong rotation moves air or fluid the wrong way.

SF

Service Factor

How much overload the motor tolerates short-term (e.g. 1.0, 1.15). It matters for hard-duty applications like pumps and farm equipment.

ENCL

Enclosure

ODP (open) vs. TEFC (totally enclosed) and similar ratings. It determines whether the motor survives moisture, dust, or wash-down duty.

MTG

Mounting

Rigid base, resilient ring, stud, or belly-band. The mount has to fit your housing, so note how the old motor attaches.

Can't read a worn plate? Send us a photo. We read what's left and fill in the rest.

Brand Cross-Reference

Search the Brands We Stock & Cross-Reference

We carry 20 top brands and cross-reference the rest. Type a brand or motor type to filter, then bring us the specs or a photo for an exact match.

The Counter Advantage

Still Not Sure? Let a Photo Do the Work.

This is what sets our counter apart. Customers send a few pictures of an old, unlabeled, or decades-out-of-production motor, and our staff match a replacement that fits and runs, often the same day, in stock.

It's the fastest path when the nameplate is gone. Snap the motor, snap any markings, and we'll take it from there.
